Smile Big and Happy New Year

As we end another year and begin a new one I am always amazed at how time flies.  Why don't we try to Smile Big as a New Years Resolutions.  That should be one that would be easy to continue not give up on.  Smile Big is the best sentiment, and it is from Little Big Greetings stamp set.  When you smile big it catches on and people will smile too.  This card has a daisy and the bigger flower was stamped with Pineapple Smoothie.  We crimped the leaves again to add texture to them.  A few pearls, a banner,  and a half circle on top add a nice finish to the card.  Have a Happy New Year and here's to a wonderful 2014.

Hi!

Today I am sharing another card from the October Kit of the month.  This kit was nice because they were all note cards that you could use to just say Hi to a friend.  We pierced the circle and layered the flowers after we colored them with Strawberry Cream Ink. I plan on sending more cards this next year.

Happy Hello

Today I am showing you a pretty card made with the October Kit of the month set.  The flower was colored with a dauber using Pineapple Smoothie Ink.  The leaves are folded in half and then run through a paper crimper to add the texture. By folding in half and crimping it you give the effects of the veins of a real leaf.  Add a little journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust, some journey twine and a mini clothes pin and you have a cute note card to give to a friend.

Copic fun

Today I wanted to share a card I colored with my copic markers.  I used a La La Land Marci stamp.  I embossed the red with a dotted folder and then added a spellbinder die in brown behind my image.  A brown satin ribbon added to the side with a bow finishes it off.  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve and have fun with all your friends and family. Enjoy.

Merry and Bright

Embossing folders are a fun way to enhance a card base.  Here I used a folder that had a snowflake and polka dots.  I like that it includes a flat area in the center to add your own stamps and images.  I used a dauber to add ink to the raised dots once the paper was embossed.  I added Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to the snowflake. I punched out the stamped ornament from the Merry and Bright ATS stamp and added the sentiment to the solid white area on the card.  A little Silver cording and a purple bow add the finishing touches to the card.

Blitzen

Blitzen ATS is a great stamp for the holidays.  It's so pretty and  simple to make a beautiful card with.  Just add a few layers to this single stamp and you can make some great cards.  Here I have added a little Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust on the antlers and the scarf.  A little satin ribbon with a bow and you have a lovely card.

Special Greetings

I love this card because who doesn't love a little bling. The special greetings stamp set covers many occasions. This card will work for any of the sentiments in this set.  I stamped the sentiment 3 times without re-inking to give it a lighter shade.  I hope you enjoy these 4 cards and I would love to see you in class.  The cards I have shared over the last few days will be in my class tonight at This N That in Chino Hills.  They are easily made into any occasion cards.  I hope they get you creating and making your own cards for whatever needs you may have.

Thank You

Today I am sharing a card using the Thank You ATS stamp set.  This is a fun card I made with some circles out of pattern papers and added a few banners to say Thank You.  A little Journey Twine and you have a finished card.
This would even make a great Christmas card if you make the circles out of Christmas papers.  Happy Creating.

Greet and Shout

I will have a class making some Thank you cards this month that you can give out for the lovely gifts you receive during the holidays.  You can make these for any occasion or even as a gift.  I have given a set of cards as a gift many times and my friends always love it.  It's nice to have a few cards on had for various occasions.  Many times I will make a card without a sentiment so I can add it at the time I use the card.  This way I can make it anything I need at the time.  This card I used the Greet and Shout stamp set.  As you can see any of the sayings would work just as nice on this card.  You could even mix it up with different shapes instead of the stars.  Let me know if you would like to make these cards.

Final November kit of the month sample

This card makes use of the other stamps in the set.  2 nice Christmas trees and a little sparkle dust to give the effect of snow.
This is a nice simple Christmas card that would be easy to duplicate and send out to all your friends.
I hope you have liked the samples and remember if you are interested you can always sign up for the December kit of the Month here.

Kit of the month samples Day 2

Here are a couple more samples from the November Kit.  The star of these cards is the Buck  but you will notice we have added a few items to his antlers.  It's a fun thing to do with your stamps.  Look at them a little outside of the box and see what you can add to make them stand out a little from the normal use.  Both of these samples also have paper piercing on them which always adds a nice feature to your cards. You will also notice on the first card we stamped the Sentiment from the set as it came.  One the second card we used each word individually to layer them one on top of the other.  You can always only use a portion of your stamps.  You don't have to use the entire image or even use it they way it is.  You can always use pieces and parts to make new images.  Let your creative juices flow and you will discover just how versatile you stamps can be.

Kit of the Month samples

Fun Stampers Journey has started a kit of the month.  For November we have a nice Winter set called Winter Holiday.  If you would like to sign up for the kit of the month just use this link (Journey Bloom Club member).  Each card kit comes with 4 cards and a stamp set.  Everything is cut and ready to put together with written instructions.  Over the next few days I will Post the cards we made for the November Kit.  If you want to sign up for December you still have time.  They start mailing them out around the 15th of the month.  If you don't want to commit without seeing the stamp set you can also sign up with the A La Carte plan.  You can use these samples and make lots of cards by copying the layouts and mixing it up with different stamp sets.
The instructions also let you know what extras were used so if you like the them you can purchase them for other projects. For example, we used the Ink Splatter ATS behind the Buck fill in the white area.

BRRR!

Here is a cute card with my favorite Snow Buddy to color.  I just think he is so adorable and fun for any winter themed cards.  I plan to make a lot of good use of this stamp set.  He is perfect to color with my Copic markers and there are endless color combinations to try out.  For this card I used the classic Brown and Blue color pallet.  Enjoy.

Christmas Tags

One thing I enjoying doing for the holidays is making my own tags for my Christmas presents.  Its a nice touch and makes your gifts a little more special.  The first tag I used the same technique as the last post of inking up an embossing folder before running it through with the paper.  It's just a fun way to add more creative uses for the tools you already have.
I used the Christmas Melody stamp set to stamp the bird and greeting.  Pomegranate Splash was used to color the bird and berries. I added Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to the wings and berries to help them stand out from the rest of the image.
The second Tag I made using the Simply Bootiful stamp set along with Snow Buddies for the background of the tag. I wrapped the tag with white tulle to add a little texture.  Journey Glaze and Sparkle dust were used for the fur on the top of the boot and the laces.  I added a couple of red flowers for a pop of color.
Try making a few tags this year for your gifts and see what compliments you will get.

Christmas is coming

I can't believe November is already over.  It went so fast I didn't manage to get one post on my Blog all month.  I am going to make sure that doesn't happen again.  So new month new habit.  I wanted to share a Christmas card I made for a trade I'm in.  We get to send 3 cards to 3 different people and in turn we will get 3 cards in the mail.

It was fun to try out the Whirl About Spellbinder Die.  They are so easy to use, you just have to tuck and fold the pieces and it make a beautiful doily type piece.  I layered it on Hazelnut Blend cardstock to make the blue really popped.  I used the Bricks & Bark M Bossabilities folder for the background inked up with Hazelnut Blend ink before running it through my machine to emboss.  That is how the dark ink is in the grooves and adds depth to the background. I used my copic markers to color the Candle and finished it off with a little Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust.

With Christmas just around the corner it's time to start making our cards. Here are the cards we made for my class on Tuesday. They are simple enough that you could do multiples and give out as your Christmas cards for the year. I hope you like them.

Quarterly meeting trade

Here is a mini scrapbook page I made for a trade at my quarterly meeting in October. The first one is a Thanksgiving 6 x 6 trade.  I colored the Cornucopia with my copics.
The second one is my creative fold Christmas card.  I used the linked dots background, Merry Tags, Winter Season and Santa Baby stamps. Inside I have a Christmas tree with presents. I used my spellbinders beaded circles die and standard circles small for the front.
The third trade is a valentine treat bag.  I got this idea from a class I took with Mindy Baxter at This N That.  We made this bag in a bigger size and had a copic colored image on the front.  I thought a smaller size would be perfect for a treat bag.  I used the circle hearts die, XOXO and Bombshell stamps, then added a few blue clothes pin and mini clear gum drops.

My final trade was a masculine hug trade I made using the Journey Gears stamp set.
I can't wait to see what I get from all the trades.  Last quarter they were fabulous and I only signed up for 2 of them.  This time I didn't want to miss out on any so I signed up for all the trades.

Prima Doll Tags

These tags I made using the Prima Doll stamps and the tag pad.  I made these like I did as a kid when I played paper dolls.  I used pattern papers for the clothes and my copic markers to color the hair.  A few prima flowers and ribbon to finish them off.  I think I will use these on my Christmas packages for my nieces.  I think they will love the little girls and I can write them a message on the back.

Kit of the Month

These cards were made using the first Journey Bloom Kit of the month set.  It's such a great deal because you get a stamp set and 4 cards all cut and ready for you to put together.  All the instructions are included and once you finish you will be ready to start creating you own projects with the stamp set.  Here is the link to sign up for the September Kit which I'm sure will be just as great.
Journey Bloom Kit of the Month

If you sign up for the club you save a little and its only a six month commitment.  If you want to wait and see the stamp set first you can purchase the kits Ala Carte.  If you are interested in having a class using the kits let me know I would gladly have a gathering to make the projects.  Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to see the new cards for Septembers kit.

Journey Blooms

This card I made for a weekly challenge group I'm a part of on Facebook.  We had to make a card using flowers so I made this using the Journey Blooms stamp set.  I used the basket weave mbossabilities folder for the top portion and a little bling for the center of the flowers.  I love the way the colors really pop.

Gift bags

This project was for my class on the 25th at This and That. We used the prima doll stamps and did some paper piecing. Some Sizzix dies were used to accent the edges. I hope you like them. I thought they would make great trick or treat bags if you kept it small.

Maxine the Florist

This card I made using my copic markers.  I finally found markers that will do what I have always wanted them to. I can shade and add depth to my projects. I wanted to share this card I made using Maxine the Florist from Saturated Canary.   I hope you enjoy it as much as I did coloring it.

Bliss Roadies meeting cards

This card I made at my Bliss Roadies Group meeting earlier this month.  Rose designed 3 cards for us to make. The first one she showed us how to distress the background by spritzing the paper and crumpling up the paper.  Then you take the ink pad straight to paper and it highlights the creases.  We used Enjoy the Journey, Greet and Shout, Flower Party and Fabric Print  stamps.

The next card was a fun card with the Artful Owl, Haunted Screams, Chevron Trail and Newsprint background stamps. Fun accents with the tags, corners and the circle like a moon in the background.

The final card we made was using the script background and summer garden.  I liked placing the bees all around the card.  It gives a true feeling of the flowers when they are in full bloom. We added a hexagon die cut to make the flower pop.

I always have fun at these meetings because we share ideas and you always come home ready to create lots of new cards.

Enjoy Coffee

This card is for a challenge my friend Rose gave us. We had to use a doily stamp. Pretty lace is used for the background and Enjoy Coffee is the rest. This was a fun and simple card to make. Enjoy

Mustache tag

Today I'm sharing a tag I made for a Jouney Coach Challenge my friend Rose gave to us. The challenge was to include a mustache in the project. I used the Furry Mustache ATS. Its a single stamp but I actually cut mine to make 5 separate stamps. I did straight cuts so I can line them back up on a block like the were meant to be or choose one to stamp by itself. This makes it more versatile. I hope you enjoy.

Shaker card

Here is a card I made for 2 occasions. My next class is all trick cards. This one is a shaker card. The other challenge was to use a background stamp. I used linked dots on each if the 3 tags. I hope you like it. Enjoy

Fabulous

Today I have a diamond flip it card for you. The diamond shape in the center of the card flips as you open the card. I have posted pictures of the card both the closed with a cute image colored in pink. Then as you pull the two sides the center flips and reveals the message inside in the card. This is the second card we will be making at the September class at This n That. I hope you like it.

Spinner card

Here is a spinner card I made for my class next month. The gear in the middle spins back and forth on the card. This is one of the cards I will be teaching at This n That in Chino Hills in September. Spinner cards are fun to give and easy to make. Enjoy

Best Wishes

Today I am showing you another card we will be making on August 20 at This and That in Chino Hills.  I like the little extras I added to this card.  I used my border punches and spellbinder dies along with my Best Wishes stamp set for this pretty flower. A little bling and a few flowers and ribbon finish is off nicely I think.
Enjoy

Celebrate

Here is another masculine card we will be making in my next class at This N That in Chino Hills.  I used the Greet and Shout and Journey Gears stamp sets along with my spellbinder die for the label.  If your interested in making this card and a few others on August 20th let me know and I will get you signed up for the class.  We always have a fun time and relax after a hard day at work. Hope to see you there.

Butterfly Prints

Butterflies always make me smile.  I just love their individual beauty and their freedom to just flutter around and enjoy the sites.  Butterfly prints is a nice 2 step stamp that lets you add a solid color butterfly with a nice color design on top.  For this one I used Candy Apple Red and Black Licorice.  I added my journey glaze and sparkle dust to the top and popped them up on the card like they are ready to fly off the card.  I used the sentiment Smile so I can send this card to a friend that needs a pick me up or just want to make them smile.

Birthday Bliss

Today I have another masculine card for the cyclist in your life.  My dad has always been into bikes so I thought of him when I made this card.  I used a pattern paper that had enough design that I didn't want to take away from so I added a simple label in the center using the Birthday Bliss Set and there you go.
Enjoy

Lacey Trim

Today I have a card to share using a background stamp to alter the look of another stamp.  So many times we just use background stamps to add a little depth or texture to our backgrounds of our cards.  They can also be used to add texture to a simple dress stamp.  Here I used the Lacey Trim background stamp to add texture and a pattern to the bottom half of the dress stamp.  I think it totally changes the look of the dress and kicks it up a notch.  What do you think?
