Airbrush fun

Today I wanted to share some of the cards I made from my Airbrush class.  I was able to take the Copic Airbrushing class in Anaheim during CHA and I had so much fun.  I learned a lot of techniques and bought an airbrush.  The cards today are all created from the items we colored during our class.

Each card we learned different techniques to make great backgrounds on various surfaces.  Some were embossed with embossing folders and some were heat embossed.  We played with Stencils and I learned about my favorite new tool, Liquid Frisket.  If you have never tried this wonderful stuff it will make all the nightmare masking items you have ever tried by fussy cutting a post it go away.  I will share more on my next post when I show you what I made when I came home and played with my airbrush.  If you ever get a chance to take copic classes, Colleen Schaan was a tremendous teacher and I learned so much.

Strawberry Lemonade

Today I wanted to share a second trade I made for the January quarterly meeting.  The requirement was to make a 6 x 6 Spring recipe card with a pocket.  Well the first thing that came to mind was the Cocktail Party stamp set. I then had to find a recipe that would work.  I love Strawberry Lemonade so when I saw this one I decided I would work.  One of the stamps had the lemon and strawberry garnishing the class so it was perfect.  I may even have to try this out for Super Bowl Sunday while I'm watching the game.  This is a fun idea to do for wedding showers.  Family members can pass on family recipes to the new couple. If you wanted to make it a 2 page layout one side can have the recipe and the other can have a picture of the person who gave you the recipe.  It would be a nice keepsake for all those favorite dishes people grow up on and pass down from generation to generation. Have a great day.

Spring Fling

I know it's still the middle of Winter and for a lot of people its really cold, but since I'm here is lovely Southern California we get to have very mild winters and I thought I would share a trade I made for the January meeting again.  Today's card is from the Spring Fling set.  I just love this little guy and use him anytime I can.  The trade requirement was for a spring or Easter card with Pink, glitter and a spellbinder die.  I had fun using my copic markers on this image and plan to try some new techniques I learned at the copic classes I took during CHA.

Kit of the month

Todays cards are the December kit of the month cards.  The stamp set was titled Only You and had a Valentine's feel.  Here are the cards that came with the kit. If your interested in signing up for the future kits here is the Link, Journey Blooms kit of the Month

When you get the kit it comes with the stamp set and all the papers and accessories to make the cards.  you get a PDF with a picture and detailed instructions for each card.  The only thing you need to provide is the ink pads.  You can also go in and add on the extras to your order each month if needed.  I have really enjoyed the kits because I get together with other friends in the club and we make our cards together.  We laugh and stamp together all while catching up with what we have all been doing.  Sometimes we even get inspired and start making other cards. I actually took 2 of these cards to make in my class for January.  Here is a picture of the kit card and my card side by side.

I used the layout and just changed the colors or added a little embellishment.  I hope you decide to join the club.  If you do make sure to say I sent you there.  Happy Stamping

January card class

Today I am sharing the cards we will make tomorrow At This N That Scrapbooking in Chino Hills.  I have a card class once a month using Fun Stampers Journey stamps on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.  This month I wanted to focus on Valentine's Day.  I know it seems a little early but if you want to make your own cards you want to get a jump on it because it will be here in no time.  The first 2 cards are cards that were in the December kit of the month.  I changed the color of the cards and added a flower on both.
On the second card I added an additional layer to give it a little pop of color with the pink.
For the third card I used an embossing folder and spellbinder die. I loved the detail this heart locket has.  The sentiment is from the ATS stamp set Cupid.  I added the hat pin in the flowers and glazed the words and small heart for a little shine.
The last card is using some chalkboard paper and chalk markers.  It's such a fun thing to use because the LOVE can be erased and anything can be written on the card just like a chalkboard.  It's a fun way to make a card say whatever you are feeling at the time.
If you like these cards I hope you can make it to my class.

Hostess set for January - March

Each Quarter we have a new set that can be earned for a hostess party over $300.00.  At our quarterly meeting we made four cards from the set.  It was a fun to make the same card but with a different image.  This shows you how you can take any card you have already made and re use it by just mixing up the stamps being used.  Here are the cards we made.  They cover 4 different holidays.

As you can see the same card layout is used the colors are just changed and the backgrounds used for the center strip vary.  This is a quick card you could make up to have on hand.  If you would be interested in earning this stamp set let me know. Have a great day.

Gift Bags

January 4th we had our quarterly Fun Stampers Journey meeting and I participated in some trades.  This is the first sample I wanted to share.  We had to make a Spring gift bag using a spellbinder die and a background stamp.  I stamped the wood slice background stamp on some paper and then stamped the birdhouses on top of it to give a wood look to them.  I added a couple of birds and a banner to say Enjoy the Journey.  I thought that would be a great sentiment for our first meeting.  I hope you enjoy.

Birthday Greetings

Todays card from the September kit of the month is a fun layout that I can't wait to try out again and again.  Adding the single corner rounding and 3 half circles to the side of the card make a neat break to the card.  Adding a little Black Licorice layer to each section helps break up the layers.  Using the circles of the pattern paper as placement markers for the rhinestones is a great way to line them up and make sure the spacing is correct. Like the other card from this kit we used Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to make the glass look realistic.  The flowers were colored using copic markers. Hope you give this layout a try.  Enjoy.

Today's card shows a great example of how to make glass look realistic.  Adding Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to the glass dome makes the card look like it truly has a glass dome over the flower pot.  Paper piercing the edges of the background layers adds a nice finish to the card.  Pop up the layers and sponge the edges and your card is finished.  A few various sizes of pearls draw your attention to the focal point of the card which is the image and sentiment.

Today's card shows an example of direct to paper use of the ink pads.  You can add texture to your backgrounds by rubbing your ink pads directly on your cardstock.  It makes some streaks and makes your paper appear as if it has some texture instead of being smooth.  I colored the flowers with copic markers and added an embossed background layer.  All the cards in the kits come with a picture and complete instructions.  The instructions are easy to follow and tell you what was used so you can recreate it again and again.  You can even use the instructions to make the cards with other colors or even various images.  If you want to try the current months kit click here.  Enjoy

Birthday Greetings

Today I'm sharing another Kit of the month card using the Hexagon Print background stamp.  This card also shows how you can cut and emboss with a spellbinder die.  I colored the images with my copic markers and added some Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to the vase.  It's a good example of combining various shapes to add some dimension to your cards.  Using Pop dots to raise the various layers help bring your cards to life.  Enjoy.

Thank You

Today's card is a fun one to make.  Using the Hexagon Spellbinder die and the Hexagon Print background stamp we create this beautiful Thank You card.  Stamp the background with Pineapple Smoothie and layer it on Hazelnut cardstock.  Add a few Hazelnut Hexagons that are not only die cut but also embossed from the Spellbinder die set.  Pop up 3 Daisy's and add Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust to them for a nice shimmer.  Wrap some Journey Twine and add a bow then attach to the card base.  This was the last card we made from the October kit of the Month. The Daisy's will make some beautiful spring cards. You still have time to sign up for the January Kit of the Month. You get a great stamp set and 4 beautiful cards to make each month.  The samples really inspire me to make other cards. It's also an excuse to get together with other friends who are in the club to make your cards together.  Enjoy.
