Birthday cards

Today I'm sharing cards we made in Tuesday's distress inks class. The first card I used a stamps of life die for the candle and then had fun building up the background with Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, and Wilted Violet distress oxide inks. It's just so much fun to see each individual color and they stand out without getting muddy.
The next 2 cards were made together. First we started with a solid white background piece. I started with blending  Fossilized Amber then added  Spiced Marmalade and finally Worn Lipstick . We then started adding water to get the oxidized look to the background. As you can see with our first card we die cut 3 butterflies from the piece.
I used a dashed line stamp to give them a flying pattern. It was really fun and we get to use those 3 butterflies to make our final card.

It was really fun to make these birthday cards. Having fun building layers of color and playing with various pieces of the die cuts shows how you can create a fun card with both the positive and negative sides of the die cut.

Media Mix

We're halfway through the month now and I want to share more of what I have been creating with our mixed media items that are on sale this month.

Select items from our mixed media items are on sale.  You can see the complete list on my website at  Some of the items are our new Gel Press, and several stencils, our paints and the House Trio which is fun to decorate for all occasions.  Another item on the list is our Pan Pastels.  That is what I have been creating with lately and want to share some samples with you today.  This first card is all colored with pan pastels.

I started by stamping 2 cactus for background and then layering various colors to create a sunset background.  I then colored in the cactus on the bottom layer and then stamped 4 more that I diecut and layered on top to add depth to my card.  One fun thing you can do with pan pastels is erase them if you color in an area that you didn't plan on or using that ability to erase and make some clouds in the sky.

The second card I want to show you is using our clear pigment ink pad and our pan pastels.

I stamped some flowers on white paper with the clear pigment ink and then gently applied the pan pastels to the flowers and stems.  I then used the matching die to cut them out.  To add a little shimmer I applied the gold pan pastel over the entire image.  I then popped them on the top of the card front and added some gold fashion dots and embossed my saying in gold.  I really love the new mirror paper we have and think it really elevates the elegance of my cards.

I hope you like these cards I shared today.  The first card we will be making in October's class and the second one we will be making in November's class.  You don't have to wait that long to try out the pan pastels.  We will be using them in our class on Tuesday September 19th.  You can also purchase your own sets of pan pastels on my website and get your 20% discount this month.

LA County Fair

It's that time of year again. I will be demoing on the weekends during the entire fair so if your in the area come say hi. I will be in the DIY center making projects all month. First I had to come and see how I did on my entries. Not to bad. I entered 20 things and received 14 ribbons. Here are pictures of some of my entries as they are displayed at the fair
BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImage

It's always fun to go on the first day and see if you got any ribbons. It's also inspiring to see what everyone else entered. So many ideas start coming to mind and you just want to create.

One of my favorite entries this time was a planner clip set.  BloggerImage
I had fun coloring them and loved the sandwich board. I can't wait to do this as a class. Look for more pictures coming soon as I make lots of projects at the fair.

True fusion ink

Whoo hoo our True Fusion Ink pads are on sale this month for 20% off.

I had fun with them on this card using our daubers to add a colorful backgrounds.

How fun and simple is this card? I took are daubers in various colors to make a spotted background and then went over the top with our Whip Cream ink to tone it down a little. I finished it off with a sentiment embossed on vellum paper and added a satin ribbon. What colors would you like to try to make this type of card? I love to use bright colors but I bet a subtle card with various blues would be beautiful. Let's create. You can find all the supplies used to make this at Click shop and check out all our color options to make your next card.

More fun with Create a Pallet

Well, I had so much fun creating with the new stamp pad I had to continue to make more cards with this beautiful ink combination.  I am sharing 2 more I made with the Koi Dreams ATS Stamp and one more I did with the Sweet Poppy ATS stamp.  The first card I used the flower  alone and showcased it with the layered ovals and a Citrus Cooler Satin Bow.  I then added 2 Rainbow drops to on either side to help show off the flower.  A little bit of Journey Glaze to add some depth to the flower petals and some sparkle dust finishing this card off nicely.  The sentiment is from the Embroidered Greetings stamp set.

For this card I wanted to make a beautiful background with the lotus flower from the Koi Dreams ATS stamp.  I stamped a few on a post it note so I could mask them as I built my background. I tried to go at a slight angle so I would have a little white area at 2 of the corners.  I then added a diagonal strip of Rich Coral with a sentiment down the center of the card.  I popped a final Lotus Flower on the bottom and added Journey Glaze and Sparkle dust to make it stand out from the background.  A few rhinestones help add some sparkle to the card and draw your attention to the bottom flower.

For the final card I used the Sweet Poppy ATS stamp to make 3 flowers.  I also used our Love Stripes Embossing Folder on the bottom layer to add some texture to my card.  On the leaves I stamped them in Lemon Grass with the edges brushed with Kiwi Slice to give it a little depth. Using my Journey Foam Squares I popped all these up on the card and added the sentiment across the center.  Journey Glaze, Sparkle Dust and 3 Rainbow drops finished this card off.

I hope you have enjoyed these ideas with our Create a Pallet ink pad.  What color combo do you want to try out and make?  I think my next one will be some blues.

Create A Pallet ink pad

Hi everyone,
Today I want to share with you a new stamp pad we have that allows you to create your own unique blends of colors.  Our new Create-A-Palette stamp pad can be made with our new liquid colors or our True Fusion Ink Refills.  For this pad I chose to use our True Fusion Ink Refills to get the colors I wanted.  I started with Pineapple Smoothie, Lemon Drop, Citrus Cooler, Rich Coral and then Pomegranate Splash
Going from lightest to darkest in the order I have listed I had a perfect color combo for a sunset.  I just love the vibrant variation in colors i got when I stamped with this pad.  In the last picture you can see the filled in sections and a sample of the stamped images. One of the cards I made was using our Ornate Blooms ATS stamp.  I loved how it showed off the blending of colors.

I cut out the image and layered it on Rich Coral paper.  I then then used the Lemon Drop ink pad and stamped that same image on Lemon Drop paper.  This helped add a little dimension to the paper layer so it wasn't so plain.  I then used the Embroidered Greetings Stamp for the sentiment.  I then took one of our wood pieces from Summer Fun Chips and pressed it into the Lemon Drop stamp pad to color it.  Using one of our small daubers I colored the edge with the Rich Coral stamp pad.  I added some journey glaze on top and a twine multi bow to finish off the card along with some sparkle drops.

The second background you saw above was used for the Koi Dreams card.

This is another ATS stamp but from our Mystic Romance collection.  I love the embroidered look you get with this collection.  I stamped the Koi Fish using the same pallet as the rest of the images and then used the matching die to cut it out.  I layered it on a hexagon die cut piece to help set it off from the background image and then added a strip of Rich Coral for the sentiment.  A piece of Citrus Cooler Satin Ribbon and some Rhinestones helped finished off this card.

So, as you can see the create a pallet can have some stunning results for your stamped images.  One thing to remember is you can use either the liquid colors to make a pallet or the True Fusion Reinkers but you don't want to mix the 2 on the same pallet.  The Liquid colors are a dye based ink and will react to water.  The True Fusion Ink is a fusion between a dye based and pigment based ink so it doesn't react with water.  Let me know what you think of the Create a Pallet ink pads.  What colors do you want to use to make your ink pad.

Muscle Man

Today I want to share a card I made using our new Muscle Man stamp set.  This set is so cute and can be used for some fun cards.  The bar bell is flexible so it can be shaped on your block before you stamp to have it fit your design any way you would like. I like that the Muscle Man can be put together using the Be Natural Brads and then you can move him around depending on your picture.
As you can see with this card I put his arms up and using Black Licorice journey twine I had the 1 ton weights on each arm.  This would also make a great card for a kid.  You could gently tack the man down so it can be removed and played with later.  So many fun ideas with this stamp set.  It would be great for a circus party invitation.  I also really love the color of our Catalina Splash Satin Ribbon.  I love the pop of color against the Black and White stamped images. You can find all the supplies I used on my website or we can book a make it party and this can be the project everyone gets to create.  What ideas can you think of for this set? Happy Stamping!!!

Today I want to share a card we will be making at the next FSJ card class at Creative Haven.  The fun starts with using the gel press and our True Fusion ink pads to make our background. I started with Lemon Drop then added some Orange Creamscicle and finished with Candy Apple.

I then a used the dandelion wishes stamp set to stamp on the background in Orange Creamscicle, Candy Apple and then Black Licorice. I added the sentiment and layered it on Candy Apple cardstock. Black licorice twine, pearls, rhinestones, and some sparkle silk finish off the card and are all popped on a Black Licorice card base. All of these products can be found on my website.

RG Presents recap

Saturday we had our 2nd RG Presents this one shared the new Project Me collection coming out in our new main catalog July 1st.  All my guests this weekend were able to get a sneak peak at the new collection coming out and a chance to purchase the items over a month early.  I started with making some fun goody boxes for all my guests.
These are our advent boxes.  I stamped on them with our picture perfect stamp set in Lemon Drop, Cool Pool, Sweet Berry, and Black Licorice inks.  I then added a strip of our new Project Me paper pack.

One of the papers has these Girls I cut out and popped up on the front of the box.

After I filled it up with candy I then stamped and die cut out one of the camera's and stapled a flag onto the back.  I then used a jumbo clothespin to hold the box closed and to hold the camera and flag onto the box.

We had a group of 8 people crafting and having a good time watching wonderful demos and learning new techniques with the new product coming.  We also had the opportunity to get to purchase some of the wonderful new products that were demonstrated during the event.  Here is a picture of some of the great things we received in our package.

Along with the wonderful demos we also got to do 4 projects with all the goodies that came in our kit. The first card we we got to use one of the new clips and some of our Confectionary Blooms.  We stamped the camera from the ATS Share Stories and the the little girl and the Love from the new stamp set Too Cute! I colored her with our Color Burst pencils and blended them with our blenders and baby oil.
The second card we used a die cut from the Film Capture Die and then stamped the girls and placed then into each section of the die

The third card we made we die cut with the Film Frame that came with our Project me kit.  I just love this die because it is 2 pieces so it can be cut as shown below with the center left solid or you have a rectangle piece that you can also die cut out to make just a film strip edged frame. We also added a little of our new black deco strips

The last card was created with a new background die with these fun classic camera images.  I just love this new stamp and can't wait for it to get here.  We then used our ink pads direct to paper to make the colorful background.  The mini polaroid is a piece of the new 12 x 12 Project me paper pack. We layered that on our circle film die and stamped the saying on the bottom.  I also colored this one with the color burst pencils and a blender with baby oil.

We had so much fun.  We gathered at my friends art studio Creative Haven in Chino.  We then had the show on the big screen and were able to craft at our tables.  We each had our own devices so we could engage in the chat during the show.  I provided lunch and snacks for everyone and we had fun during the make n take sessions making our projects together.  I would love to have you join me for the next one.  It will be on July 15th and we will be kicking off the new Journey Holiday mini catalog.  Early Bird Registration is $75.00 and will start May 22, 2017 and will go to June 19th. You won't want to miss this fun Christmas in July event.  More information will be coming soon. Let me know if you would like to join us for a fun day filled with crafting and be the first to get the new Holiday products.

BBQ Chalkboard technique

Hi everyone,
Today I want to share a card I made using our new BBQ stamp sets. I started by using various stamps on a large block to make the background. I used our clear pigment ink to stamp the images on black cardstock and then rubbed white pan pastels, from the party pop collection. The ink grabs the color really well. I then used a soft Kleenex to rub off the excess and it now looked like a chalkboard.
I then used our cranberry Bliss and new sparkle silks to add a little shimmer to the background. Our new backyard prints pattern paper had the fun paisley print so I added strip of that to the bottom and tied a piece of our black and white striped ribbon around the seam. I used our candy apple twine to make a triple bow and tie on the tag to finish off the card. These set are great to add some fun decorations to all your BBQ parties this summer.

Seas The Day

Today I want to share another fun card using our new snappy birthday stamp set. I'm really loving our beach and sea life collections in the current Spring into Summer mini catalog.
The crab was done using 2 colors of ink. I started with Orange Rave and then brushed the edges with Rich Coral. Next I used the matching die to cut him out. Then I worked on the base of my card by adding strips of our new Under the Sea paper pack and various silks. I also wanted sequins but I wanted a different color so I took out pink sequins and mixed them in a bag with a few drops of Rich coral ink. This toned down the pink and made them work more with the colors on my card. I finished the card off with some yellow ribbon and a circle of Orange Creamsicle to set off the crab. After the card was all together I added some journey glaze on the crab to make his shell nice and shiny.

Turtley Love

One of the sets I just couldn't wait to get my hands on when I saw the new mini was Turtlely Love. It was so cute and I wanted to create immediately with it.
The first thing I did was have fun with the splashes. I sprayed turbo teal, sour Lemon and Electric lime. I then used the heat gun to dry it and stamped my turtles with blue lagoon. I then used the matching die set to cut them out. Next I started working on my background. I sponged the colors on using our new daubers which I love by the way. Once I had that the color I wanted I stamped the seaweed randomly around the background to make my own pattern paper. I splattered with a little silver silk and assembled my card. I finished off my turtles with some Journey glaze and added s few spots of confetti. We will be making this card on Tuesday at This n That if you would like to join us. You can call the store to sign up at (909) 464-1108. Hope to see you there. Enjoy your day.

Slice of Life

Hi everyone,
Hope you had a fun weekend. Today I'm sharing a card I made with our slice of life collection.
This was fun to use a strip of the color washi tape on our printed cardstock. I tied a ribbon around that and layered it on sweet pear. I then popped a lemon on the top and added my sentiment on the front and inside. Our slice of life coll croon is one of our specials this month.
It's one of my favorites because it is fun and reminds me of summer. I especially love the slice of life confetti in the shape of little slices of fruit. They are great for shaker cards. You can find this and all the other specials on my website at
