I liked the way this set repurposed the nostalgic items from my childhood. For the first card I colored the typewriter. I used my prisma color pencils and some oderless mineral spirits to help blend part of it.
Once I colored my image I used the oderless mineral spirits to blend the black area around the typing keys. I think it added enough depth to make the keys pop and look like they were elevated from the base. For the ground shadow I used my cool grey pencils to get the blend and then took my white pencil to burnish the colors and really get them to blend and have the smooth transition between the colors.
On the phone I just used my pencils to blend between the colors. On the grounding shadow I again used my white pencil. I like using a light colored pencil to soften my colors and help smooth the blend.
For the record player I used my oderless mineral spirits to blend the inside cover and the outer edge of the case. I like to build up my colors with my pencils. I find I can get so many ranges of colors with my pencils. Just by adding more layers and additional pressure you can achieve a wide range of values with one pencil.
