Winter Wonderland

Hi everyone,
Today I want to share the cards I made for my color pencil class this month. I started with the Winter Wonderland digital download from RGSTUDIO360.

I wanted to use blues so I colored the base of the flowers with a deep blue pencil and pulled the color out with a blending stump and odorless mineral spirits.

As you can see it gives a lighter blue tint to the flowers. Once I had the deep blue done I went with a very pale blue pencil to color in the tips of the petals. I love the light colors on the kraft paper. I did the same thing with each color. I was able to lay down the color where I wanted the shadows to be and pulled the colors out to give it a softer look.

I then went back with a white pencils to blend in the highlights. You can really see this on the leaves.  After I had the cards all assembled I added some stickles to the flowers and berries. A few splatters of some sparkle silk and you have a nicely finished card.

I really like the added touch of the stickles on this last card on the berries and the poinsettia.  I am having fun doing classes for groups of friends that decide to get together and have me come teach some specific techniques.  If you would like to have a class let me know.  We can work on finding a date that works for you and your friends.  All these images can be found on my website at rgstudio360.com/#StampinNikki.  This image comes in both stamps and digital images.  When you purchase the stamp set you get the digital images also.  This is my favorite part because I can play with the digital images while I wait for my stamps to arrive.  Thanks for checking out my blog today.  I hope you have a great week.

Joyful Noise

Today I wanted to share 2 cards I made with this digital download from RGSTUDIO360.

I used my Distress Ink to watercolor each angel. Using our 100lb powdered sugar cardstock made the watercoloring easier. The extra weight of the paper held up to the water very well. It’s not watercolor paper so you still have to be careful not to add a lot of water but I was able to take a few passes to add a little bit of shadows in some areas.   The hair is actually 2 colors. I did a light wash of antique linen and then went over it with squeezed lemonade to get the bright yellow for the hair. Once it dried and I assembled my card I went over the angels hair, dress and wings with clear wink of Stella to get a little shimmer and then added silver sticklers to the halo and horn.

For this card I wanted to have a burst of light in the background so I used a dauber to create the yellow burst concentrating on the center and fading outward. I water colored my angel with the Distress inks and assembled the card. I again added the wink of spell to the hair and dress for a little shimmer and then used the gold Wink of Luna to color the harp and halo. I added some gold ribbon and then assembled the card. My final step was to add my gold stickles for some fun rays coming from behind the angel.

What’s fun with these digital images is that you can use them to resize and make multiples of the images if you need to make several of the same card. Now the hard part is to figure out who gets these cards for Christmas this year. You can find these and many other images online at RGStudio360.com/#StampinNikki. Use code rgcraftfriday for a 25% discount on the entire store for Black Friday sales through Cyber Monday. If you ever want a class with you and your friends let me know. I would love to come teach anywhere I can. Happy Creating.
